Description:

Description for B&B:

"The true paradises are the paradises we have lost," once said M. Proust. After being confined at home, it is difficult to articulate oneself in the same way.

Built in the 18th century, the country villa "Il Palazzotto" was originally a farm in an Etruscan village nestled among the picturesque Sienese hills. This region is renowned for its abundance of cypress trees, castles, farms, olive groves, and vineyards. Conveniently located 30 km from Siena, "Il Palazzotto" provides easy access to all the magnificent destinations in Tuscany. It is also situated in the region where the famous wine Brunello di Montalcino is produced, amidst villages and monasteries along the historic "Via Francigena," an ancient road that connected France to Rome.

With six comfortable double rooms and six bathrooms, our villa comfortably accommodates up to 12 people. On the ground floor, you will find a spacious living room, a large lounge, and a fully-equipped kitchen, all of which open onto a panoramic terrace overlooking a beautiful garden adorned with flowers and plants, including a wisteria pergola. (Watch our video on Youtube: "Il Palazzotto Siena")

Indulge in a romantic candlelit dinner on the terrace, surrounded by nature, and admire the breathtaking view that Leonardo da Vinci himself held dear. Adjacent to the terrace, there is another delightful space situated at a higher level, featuring a pool and a landscaped sundeck.

Spanning over 42 acres of woodland and Mediterranean vegetation, the property is part of a natural park with a green route, preserving a rich variety of flora and fauna.

At "Il Palazzotto," we offer our guests the expertise of the owner and a dedicated staff who are always available to assist with any needs, including providing information about the surrounding cities, roads, farms, and castles. We take great care in our kitchen, ensuring that you savor the finest local products and dishes prepared by the owner, such as Tuscan bruschetta, zuppa di farro, tagliatelle ai funghi porcini, fiorentina steak, Pienza pecorino cheese, Montalcino Brunello wine, extra-virgin olive oil from Tuscany, ricciarelli, and panforte, among others.

This ancient house has been meticulously restored and renovated while respecting the traditional Tuscan style. On the ground floor, you will find a cozy living room with two fireplaces, perfect for relaxation. Telephone, fax, and internet connections are also available for guests. From the ground floor, you can access the garden terrace or ascend to the first floor, where the six bedrooms are located.

Each of the six spacious bedrooms, tastefully furnished by the owner, offers a splendid view. The corner rooms boast private bathrooms with showers, bidets, and modern amenities. All rooms feature double beds, while one of them also includes an additional single bed. The two central rooms are adorned with canopy beds, while the remaining two rooms have twin beds. A shared bathroom with a shower is located down the hall, and an additional bathroom is situated on the ground floor.

Thanks to its central location, "Il Palazzotto" allows for easy visits to Florence, Siena, and their surrounding areas. Within an hour or so, you can also reach most cities in Tuscany and Umbria, such as Assisi and Perugia. Rome is a mere 200 km away from "Il Palazzotto." Our region is renowned for its rich history and natural beauty, showcasing the Renaissance charm of Florence, the Gothic allure of Siena, and the ancient Etruscan and Roman influences that define our land. The charming towns of Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, and Monteriggioni are also worth exploring. Museums, abbeys, monasteries, Romanesque churches, and Roman baths add a special allure to your itinerary. The enchanting sights of St. Antimo Abbey in Montalcino with its Gregorian chants, the Renaissance frescoes by Sodoma and Signorelli at the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, and the magical ruins of the Gothic Abbey of St. Galgano are just a few examples of the remarkable places that will enhance your visit to the region. The diverse and captivating landscape of rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, woods, and fields, adorned with ever-changing colors throughout the seasons, will leave an indelible imprint in your memory, akin to Proust's involuntary remembrance.
