Welcome to Our Corner of Paradise - We fell in love with Creysseilles over 30 years ago, captivated by its picturesque mountain scenery, charming stone hamlets, and the authenticity and friendliness of its people. In 1985, we had the fortunate opportunity to acquire this nearly dilapidated former farm, which we have gradually renovated. Perched on a ledge at an altitude of 700 meters, our one-hectare property offers a tranquil haven for a one-night stay or a few days of relaxation, where you can soak in the breathtaking views and explore the hiking trails of Creysseilles and the neighboring towns. Whatever the season, you will find something to love here - from the vibrant spring flowers and yellow broom-covered mountains, to the pleasant summer days spent by the pool surrounded by the sound of cicadas and the fragrance of freshly-cut hay, to the golden hues of autumn that paint the landscape, and the cozy winter evenings spent in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea and a slice of gingerbread or baked kougelhopf. Our house features two guest rooms on either side of our living space. Breakfasts and dinners, prepared by the lady of the house, are served in the dining room with its arches from the old stables, or on the terrace during the summer. We are excited to welcome guests starting from May 1, 2013, and to share our love for this beautiful corner of Ardèche. Martine and Jean-Paul Marchal, and their beloved pets: Allie and Mia, the dogs, and Chestnut, Chatra, and Saddle, the cats.

About the House - The origins of this old farmhouse date back to the seventeenth century, with subsequent extensions made to accommodate the growing housing needs. Comprised of three connected buildings, residential vaults, a covered porch, a bread oven, and a courtyard enclosed by a gate, the property has undergone various renovations. The high walls were lowered to maximize the view and provide access to the pool. Situated on one hectare of meadow and moorland, the property also features a garden that we restored five years ago, complete with a pond fed by a spring.

Nearby Activities - For nature enthusiasts and avid hikers or cyclists, there are numerous hiking trails and quiet roads to explore right from the house. Within an hour or two, you can discover attractions such as the Huguenots cave, an ancient stone-carved tomb, the church, the watchtower with its panoramic 360° view, and the Chirouze volcano. We are happy to provide maps and guides of the area and offer recommendations based on your preferences. If you prefer to explore the region by car, Privas is a 15-minute drive away, Aubenas can be reached in 30 minutes, Antraigues in 45 minutes, Vallon Pont d'Arc in 1 hour, and Mont Gerbier de Jonc in 1 hour and 15 minutes. For those interested in local products, Privas offers chestnuts from Clement Faugier, charcuterie (stomachs, hams, dried mountain sausages), goat cheese (renowned picodons), red Côtes du Rhône wines (such as Syrah and Merlot), and white wines (including Chardonnay and Viognier).

Description for Gite

"The 'Cocoon' - Ideal for a solo traveler or a couple. This charming gite spans 40 m² on the first floor, ingeniously converted from a former hay barn. It features a cozy landing area, a separate toilet, and a bathroom with both a tub and a shower."

Appréciations pour Les Chambres du Clair, Creysseilles:

Une semaine sereine et sympathique
Review by: Josette, Sep 20 2016 1:21PM
