Description:

Description for B&B:

Experience the charm of a 17th-century farm-house nestled in the untouched beauty of the Girona Pyrenees. This idyllic location is a paradise for hiking and mountain biking enthusiasts, with miles of unspoiled wilderness to explore. Surrounded by serene woods and complete silence, the only lights at night are the moon and stars. Positioned on a mountain pass, breathtaking views of two valleys await you. With over 300 sunny days each year, this destination is a haven for nature lovers.

We offer two guest rooms on the first floor of our beautifully restored home, along with an independent ground floor apartment. The larger room features a private bathroom, a double bed, and a double futon sofa bed, while the other room has two single beds. Our guests also have access to a dining room with a cozy wood-burning stove.

The apartment boasts a spacious and bright hall with high vaulted ceilings, an American kitchen, a fireplace, a large dining table, and a comfortable living area with a sofa bed. Additionally, there is a bedroom with a double bed and bunk beds, a generous bathroom, and a charming garden terrace with stone vaults and a barbecue.

Our house operates on self-sufficiency principles, utilizing a central fireplace for heating and solar panels for electricity. We take pride in producing our own bread, pasta, game sausages, marmalades, and jams from our fruit trees, wild berries, and nuts. Organic vegetables are grown on our property, and we also raise chickens and ducks. To enhance your stay, we offer half-board and full-board options featuring our organic products, as well as those sourced from local farmers, creating a culinary experience like no other.

Situated in a privileged middle-mountain area, ranging from 600 to 1,500 meters above sea level, our location provides a stunning viewpoint overlooking the radiant Empordà plain as it stretches towards the sea. Alta Garrotxa, a solitary and rugged middle-mountain region, showcases a diverse landscape with Mediterranean dry forests of holly oaks, oaks, and pine trees on sunny slopes, and lush vegetation of chestnut trees, beeches, and black poplars in shaded areas. Discover deep ravines, babbling mountain streams, gorges, cascades, alpine meadows, sheer rock walls, and karstic formations. Historically sparsely populated, this region is scattered with remote farmhouses and Romanesque chapels in seemingly impossible locations. Encounter more wildlife than humans, as deer, wild pigs, hares, and foxes are commonly spotted. The air is filled with the melodies of countless birds. This 32,865-hectare region remains untouched by electricity, telephone cables, or asphalt stains. Here, you can leave behind the stresses of daily life and immerse yourself in the wonders of nature, wander through enchanted chestnut forests, and relax in a hammock beneath an oak tree. Just a 15-minute drive away, the Muga River offers a heavenly oasis during the summer with its crystal-clear natural pools. Autumn brings the opportunity to hunt for mushrooms, chestnuts, figs, and blackberries, while spring blesses us with wild strawberries, cherries, asparagus, and even more mushrooms. Winter provides a lightly dusted landscape under a clear blue sky, without the harsh cold of higher elevations.

We offer guided hiking and horseback tours to showcase the best views of this region, renowned for its rugged terrain, diverse landscapes, and over 40 Romanesque chapels dating from the 10th to 12th centuries. These chapels stand as a testament to the region's historical significance as the southernmost Christian lands and its strategic importance for those crossing the Pyrenees on foot. For avid mountain bikers, numerous marked routes traverse this remarkable region.

Come and experience the allure of our magnificent farm-house, where nature's beauty awaits at every turn.

Appréciations pour ClardeBosc, Albanyà:

Can coll
Review by: Claire, Nov 6 2012 3:52PM
