"Autrefois La Modiste" is a charming Art Deco style apartment for two, located in the heart of the picturesque Gascon village of Saint Clar in Gascony (Gers). Situated overlooking the 13th century market place, this former milliners shop has been lovingly transformed into a peaceful retreat where guests can stay for a night, a weekend, a week, or even longer.Saint Clar is a beautiful village boasting two bastides and is the perfect base for exploring the renowned and stunning region of south-west France. Known for its gastronomic delights such as foie gras, garlic, melons, Armagnac, and Gascon and Madiran wines, guests will have the opportunity to indulge in the local cuisine. Additionally, the area offers diverse landscapes and historic architectural treasures, providing endless opportunities for exploration.
The apartment gite exudes a nostalgic charm, while offering modern amenities. It features a fully-fitted kitchen equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, and microwave. The spacious living/dining room, bedroom, and bathroom with a multijet shower ensure a comfortable stay. Madame Bigard, the owner, hopes guests will also appreciate her collection of historic ladies hats displayed in the milliners windows.
In addition to the Autrefois la Modiste apartment, there are two guest rooms available. Guests are invited to relax in the peaceful lounge and enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the dining room. The La Pastorale guestroom, designed for one or two persons, exudes a fresh, country style with hand-painted, decorated furniture. On the other hand, the La Pompadour guestroom offers an elegant and harmonious atmosphere, with high-quality furnishings, ensuring utmost comfort for one or two persons.
