Vallabrègues, a medieval village administratively attached to Languedoc-Roussillon, is geographically located in Provence. It has absorbed the culture, traditions, and language of the region. In the novel "Mireille," Frédéric Mistral (Nobel Prize for Literature in 1906), a poet, writer, and félibre, lived in Vallabrègues. Vincent, known as "Vincennes," a basket maker and lover of Mireille (1859), also resided in the village.

Vallabrègues has a rich history dating back to the Bronze Age. In the 19th century and until the 1960s, it was a village of weavers. The village's feast day is celebrated with grandeur every second weekend of August.

In the charming and peaceful center of the medieval village, with its narrow streets and refreshing atmosphere, guests can experience the tranquility of Provence nights and enjoy relaxing naps accompanied by the sound of cicadas. However, this does not mean giving up visits to famous sites located within a maximum distance of twenty kilometers from Vallabrègues. These sites include Avignon and its famous Avignon Bridge, St. Remy de Provence and the Roman ruins of Glanum, Les Baux, Fontvieille and the Moulin de Daudet, the Abbey of Montmajour, Arles la Romaine with its prestigious ancient past, Tarascon and the castle of King Rene, Beaucaire and its medieval castle, the Abbeys of St. Roman (built by troglodyte monks) and St. Michael and Frigolet, and lastly, the fabulous Roman aqueduct Pont du Gard.

Maravillosa estancia
Review by: Maria José, Mai 7 2017 9:56PM
