Description:

Description for B&B:

Located in the heart of the Dauphiné, in the town of Chirens, is a historic flour mill that commenced operations along the Cras river in the 1840s. Once owned by the esteemed Richard-Martin family, who had a long lineage of millers, this mill was painted a charming pink hue in 1895. The water flows through a series of channels, including a suspended one, before reaching the troughs where its weight propels the wheel into motion. Inside, large spur gears connect two pairs of grinding wheels – one for corn and the other for wheat. A horizontal axle, suspended from the ceiling, powers the vertical grinding wheel. Today, several original components of the mill have been preserved, including the wheat cleaner, troughs elevators, bolters, and flour mixer. The residential section of the mill has been transformed into a delightful accommodation, offering guest rooms and a fully equipped kitchen.
