Description for B&B:

We offer two charming B&B studios that boast lovely garden views. These studios are fully equipped with private bathrooms and convenient kitchenettes for those who prefer self-catering. Guests can choose to have breakfast either in their room or in the main house. Each studio can accommodate couples, two couples, or families of four, as they feature a comfortable double bed on a raised mezzanine level and a sofa bed on the ground floor. These studios are beautifully designed and provide a tranquil and enjoyable stay for a short weekend getaway or even an extended week-long vacation.

Our B&B guests have the opportunity to indulge in the stunning gardens and relax by the refreshing swimming pool. Additionally, we provide tea and coffee making facilities and offer home-cooked meals through our table d'hôte service (advance booking required). The breakfasts we serve consist of fresh bread and croissants delivered daily from the local boulangerie, accompanied by delicious homemade jams, fresh juices, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. We also provide secure off-street and garage parking for cars, bicycles, and even the occasional horse!

Description for Gite

Our gite, originally a watermill constructed in the late 18th century, is renowned for its exceptional location and top-notch amenities in the region. We firmly believe that it should be enjoyed rather than left vacant, which is why we have personally lived in it and paid close attention to every detail.

Whether you are a couple, a family, or a group of up to six people, our gite is an idyllic holiday destination. Its versatility stems from its spacious kitchen, bathroom, living room (featuring a cozy alcove bed), separate twin bedroom, and breathtaking grenier, occupying the entire top floor. These features create an atmosphere of grandeur, usually associated with a much higher price range. Departing from this enchanting place can be quite difficult!

The indoor space is complemented by a terrace that overlooks the expansive two-acre gardens, nature reserve, streams, and surrounding fields. It is the perfect spot to observe the abundant bird and wildlife, savor a refreshing beer or glass of rosé, or watch the children play in the garden. The soothing sound of the old millstream flowing around the gite provides a relaxing ambiance conducive to a restful night's sleep.

The immediate area offers an array of activities, including kayaking, yoga, fishing, hiking, and cycling. There are too many options to list here, but we recommend visiting our website or contacting us for the most up-to-date information. Additionally, we are excited to introduce a new feature for 2015: a spacious children's playground on the mill island, complete with swings, a slide, a climbing tower, and a rope ladder.

Directions

The gite and BB can be found at Chantegrolle, Charroux, 86250. It is approximately an hour's drive from either Poitiers or Limoges. Depending on the direction you are coming from, we are either the first or last house in the village of Charroux. You will easily recognize us by the sign and by referring to the pictures on our website.

For those traveling from La Havre or Caen, it takes about six hours to reach Charroux. However, with stops, it is more likely to be around eight hours from Calais.

If you are not comfortable driving in France, do not worry. We offer regular minibus pickups from Poitiers and Limoges airports. Additionally, some guests choose to take the Eurostar, make a transfer in Paris, and arrive at Poitiers train station where we can collect them.

If you have any questions before your holiday, please feel free to email or call Chris or Lucy.
